If you ever played the game until 60 and onwards and more specificially if you've played a caster (mage especially) you will know what I'm talking about. The Mage is screwed over at 60. Caster itemization is bollocks. While a Warrior, Rogue etc can get 1 sword from an instance and thus increasing their DPS massively. Mages and other casters are stuck at 60 with the same level of DPS. The only way of doing more damage or increasing your DPS is to get + SPELLPOWER items which will give you a HP of about 2000 and a MANA of about 2500 (normal, depending on build is, 3000-4500 HP and 5000-10000 MANA). When most of the classes can crit +2k you understand that low HP hurts in PVP...

I am wondering because, in game, I am surrounded by level 60's. Many of them I see daily, for a while now. None of them appear gone.

Now, I just play for fun as I expect all of you to do, but spending +5 hrs in Lower Black Rock Spire to get a shitty document that spawns randomly is not my type of fun. Before 60 it was a real enjoyable experience. Most instances took about 1-2 hours and you almost always had a good time. But as soon as you hit 60 and played through all the instances a couple of times you get tired of it.
Lies. You could not have run all of the instances past level 60, because they never end. Blizzard adds to shit in each patch, not to mention the upcoming update. And no, we wouldn't absolutely get tired of it, you simply did. We are not you. Apparently many thousands of people agree with me there. Boredomcraft? I have trouble finding empty servers. My main characters are on a 'normal' server. I do not have that issue. I do know that I have attained scout on my mid-level character, and I was fighting some seriously beefy mofos. So I have no comment further on that.

I find this hilariously narrow minded. Your age is the catalyst, so you can be forgiven. The guild I was in previously was run by a 50 year old former navy man. I am 27, and was the youngest person in the guild. I have only had that kinda shit happen in crossroads on my server, but it's more from rivalry than teenagers. I rarely see rudeness on my server.

So in my personal experience, you get what you give, meaning it depends on what server you are on, and what you carry around your mouth when you use it.

The nail in the coffin was when I was doing the Onyxia key quest (first part in LBRS) and you have to retrieve a friggin document. It's a 5 hour quest if you go through the whole quest and finally after the 5 hours I was gonna get my document. So I clicked on it and started to picking it up (there's actually a loading bar that goes on for like 10 secs before you can pick it up). When only 1 second remained, Blizzard decided to flush the server would be a good idea (flush = restart due to some lag/bug in WSG). I cancelled my account right after that.

I'm actually thinking of going back but I might as well pick up GW instead. Haven't decided yet.

If you do decide to play WoW, which I have nothing against: it's your money after all, make sure that you have the time to spare and don't play a Mage . Because there are some good points of WoW though but I felt they've been brought up already.
If you think that maturity was in short supply on WOW. Do me a favor. If you pick up gw, BEFORE YOU EVER HIT TOWN, turn off local chat. You might as well go ahead and turn off all chat, because there will be no escape.

You can take that to the bank

Speaking of immaturity... is Goldshire/Elywnn Forest the gathering point for every moronic 12 year old who owns this game? I've never seen something so absurd in my life.

You are completely missing my point. It's not a question about life being easy or have a high survival rate as a Mage because that's really not the way it's supposed to be. My point was that Mages have poor itemization and have a very hard time increasing their DPS after level 60 while a Warrior/Hunter/Rogue can increase their DPS dramatically with obtaining one single Epic weapon. You are entitled to your own opinion and think that this is the way it should be, but so am I and I think this problem applies to all casters and is very unfair in gaming terms. Why should SOME classes still develop after 60 while Mages can't? Another problem with the Mage is that if you can crap out an amazing amount of DPS (which we honestly can't) you gotta have low survivability. Thus the Mage have Cloth armor and low hp. But to counter this you gotta have crowd control (remember that Mages are a CC-class as well?). Well guess what, Polymorph has been nerfed beyond comparison. It now lasts less than 10 seconds, 5 in most cases. There's a PVP trinket you get at level 2 IIRC which nullifies Polymorph AND on top of that Druids can shape shift out of Polymorph. But wait, our two other main Crowd Control spells, Frost Nova and Cone of Cold are still good right? No, not really. The forementioned trinket still works on those, so does the Druid shapeshifting. And Priest/Paladins (cant remember) can apply a state on a fellow soldier which gets them out + makes them immune against CC for a couple of seconds. With relatively low DPS, extremely low survivability and bad Crowd Control, Mages get screwed over. That's my point and nothing else.

Once again you miss my point. What I meant was that after you ding 60 there's really not much left to do other than run the high level instances or PVP in Battlegrounds. That's a fact you can't dispute. Not saying there are few instances or low participation in BG but I got bored the hell out of it because there was no point simply because I couldn't put more than 5 hours in it per day, which is needed to get the best gear and thus being able to compete(MC/Onyxia/LBRS/UBRS being the most time consuming ones).
My point was not that there are few things to do, but that you have to put down large amounts of time. Time I I didn't have. If you have that time, it's a great game.

Fair enough. but Battlegrounds and outside PVP is different. In Battlegrounds you face people at your level, outside BG you rarely do that and if you do they often bring 12 friends to spank your butt.

Glad I could entertain you. I just gotta add that this was far from being the main reason for quitting, as I stated in my post. But I did feel it had to be mentioned because of some earlier posts. And I agree with you, you get what you give, but people who believe the world to revolve around them rarely needs to be provocated.

Overall, I think you missed the points I tried to make and I must remind you that all of this is IN MY OPINION ONLY.

Join an RP server. The friendliest people in the game I've found so far were there, except for SOT who really helped me out at the beginning and got me started. Sorry I bailed on Elune man, but I've got a really good thing going on Kirin Tor.

Something off topic before I post on WoW... Downloading Anarchy Online and seeing the Clan section of the game and getting rid of my XBOXLIVE account as I don't play it

Back on topic, and I'm starting to enjoy the "retarded" paladin a lot, and I have gained a skill known as Blessing of Sanctuary, that cuts off damage from all types of damage when hit. The only problem is if I lose the first skill before attaining the second, I will lose the ability to buy that item.

But I am feeling good, I got a Diamond 1h hammer in an area and although a few thought I "Ninja'd" that item, let me get this straight in loud words:

I wield 1-handed and 2-handed maces, including mail armor!!!

If people still don't like my style they should seriously look at THEIR character before complaining.

But that is bullshit and you know it.

Warriors and rogues are supposed to have the highest dps in game. it says that flatly in the manual, on the site, etc.

I respect your opinion, but when you make it sound like you wanna convert someone through misinformation, I gotta step up a bit. It is my nature.

Yes, but it takes a hell of a long time getting the items you want, and you need very good Armor in order to keep living after one or so Elites try to keep you floored till you retrieve your corpse.

And SOME instances require 5, 10, 20, or 40 people to complete, as some of the bosses are next to impossible, but that is when you hit level 58 at least.

So you're saying Warriors should have the best armor in-game, most HP, best damage mitigation AND the best DPS, while Mages have the worst armor, lowest HP, worst damage mitigation and WORSE DPS than Warriors? I beg to differ. However, I feel my arguments are wasted on you as you clearly have your opinions set so I'm gonna drop it here. I advise you to play a Mage to level 60 and see for yourself. Enjoy a, Summoning Water b, Dying c, Rinse and Repeat.

Well, yes. A mage is a little minime of a being. Sure they can call on the sungod and turn something to bacon, but they are MAGES. The can call down infernal wrath and all that shit. A warrior NEEDS the armor so he can get close enough to cleave yer skull in half. All you gotta do is dance around, and im a crispy creme.

I will captitulate and say that mages could use some more armor, but there IS some pretty badass mage/warlock armor out there, I see it on players all the time and i go "whoah". In fact, I have one in my bank for another toon of mine that is +50 resistences to all forms of magic damage, and it is a mage robe. I have yet to top that on warrior armor.

Besides, a mage can use all kinds of things to make my armor and sword meaningless. Like freeze my gonads in place and then turn on the fireplace on my ass.

I think this debate has opened up a similarity with GW. Skill. Pure skill. You can have the beefiest megasword of god-death, but if I am more adept with my toon at the same or near same level, your ass is mine.

Why whine about it?

Oh, and my mage is level 45, and she is doing fine, thanks

Had a pretty interesting instance run last night. My guild decided to get a Gnomeregan group together... apparently no one was really paying attention to how many of what classes we had. When it was done we had 3 Mages and 2 Priests. Anyone else see something missing from this equation? I pointed it out to the group leader (also our guild leader) and he said we'd be fine. Sure... if by "fine" you mean that we'll ONLY wipe 4 times. We did get to Thermaplugg though and totally smoked him. The drops really sucked though, so I'm still not sure if it was worth the trip or not.

It's not a question about having more armor as I prefer the "Glass Cannon" Mage (low hp, but extremely high damage output) rather than the "Tank" Mage (more hp but less damage). I advise you to read through this thread in the WoW forums as it explains the issues rather well: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...p=1#post496940

And the thing is that, in my opinion, WoW doesn't require nearly as much skill as having time to farm. If you do have that time your character will kick butt. I didn't have that time/effort, thus I quit.

I hear what your saying. That makes sense to me more than all that why mages are ignored commentary. You have less free time than some. That is a totally understandable reason to feel frustration.

If you had said that at the outset, I might have reacted a little less verbally.

I hear ya on the time thing, really. I have had the game since August, and I have spent quite a bit of time on my stuff. It can be overwhelming at times, but I am stubborn, so I keep pluggin away.

Bump up!

I've managed to win my first ever PvP at Warsong Gulch tonight, and in the entire WoW game! WOOT!!! I wonder if the 3 Mark of Honors will do me any good?

The way I won it was "decoy"ing to the enemy base and letting them kick my ass :P and sometimes I go back to base and drop out of nowhere and kick their asses in if they were about to make us lose.

In a win/lose moment at the end of the game I managed to whoop the Horde's ass by stunning it and er... dying after getting the flag. This made the alliance get much valuable time to let our side take the trophies home and count my first proper win in WoW!
